Self-love: An Ode to Motherhood.

 Being a mother is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences a woman can have. It is the privilege to nurture and raise another human being. You may have tried to imagine what motherhood will look like and even made plans before you became one.

But now that you are a mother, you must have realized that it is the most unpredictable journey ever. Nothing prepares you for it.

Motherhood is an endless journey. Yes, your kids will grow and be able to guide themselves or cater for themselves but the journey never really ends.

So, why not renew? If the journey never really ends, you might as well re-discover yourself. Do a little soul-searching. Re-discover or discover what makes you happy, fulfilled or gives you that sense of purpose.

It could be a healthy dose of fun activities, a dream or just having a say in what goes on in your life. Whatever it is, love yourself enough to know that it is okay. Love yourself to a point where you find joy in doing those things again. Love yourself better so you can love your kids even more.

Re-energize

When you discover or re-discover yourself again, be happy. It took a lot of work for you to get to this point, so be excited about it.

To re-energize, you need to consciously guard your sense of purpose. The one you just discovered again. Protect it. That is your light, your shine, your happiness.

Be intentional about practicing those things that interests you, again. Sometimes, the ‘mum-guilt’ may sneak in. It will tell you that you are now a mum and therefore, not allowed to have this much fun. It will tell you it is selfishness to seek your own happiness.

But guess what? You will shun it.  Discard such thoughts because self-love is okay! How can you even love another person if you don’t even love yourself?

Restore

Here comes the restoration part. This is the part where you have to be fully confident in your new-found happiness.

You are the most important person in your life, protect you first so you can protect your family. In restoring, we encourage you to take that long walk, meditate, start that fitness plan, start vlogging, etc. Just do you! It changes nothing, really.
