LOCAL FACE MASK PRODUCTION: GATIMO APPAREL GETS FEATURED ON ARISE NEWS

Gatimo Apparel, the production arm of Nigeria's leading designer, manufacturer and retailer of top-notch designer children's clothing- Ruff 'N' Tumble, have started production of reusable face masks to help Nigerians in these trying times, combat the spread of COVID-19.

Since its inception in 1996, the luxury brand and leading garment manufacturing company still maintains its high production standards and dependability, thereby making them a household name in the fashion and design industry in the country. According to founder Adenike Ogunlesi, the premium brand commenced work on the production of reusable face masks for 2 main reasons;

• To combat the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria by ensuring that people readily get access to reusable face masks at a highly subsidized rate and,
• To ensure that its production staff are meaningfully engaged during this period to avoid loss of jobs.
  
  

·      WHY REUSABLE FACE MASKS?

In our mission to join the fight against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, we took into consideration the majority of Nigerians who do not have access to the clinical face masks; and those who may not have the means to sustain the purchase of those clinical face masks. We decided to produce breathable, washable and reusable face masks to help everyone stay protected.

·      WHAT ARE REUSABLE FACE MASKS?

Unlike the clinical, N95 and surgical masks, reusable face masks can be used multiple times. They are mostly made of cotton (cloth). It is not like the clinical and surgical face masks that can only be used once. Reusable face masks can be washed after use and reused. 

·       HAVE THEY BEEN TESTED?

Our cotton face masks have undergone lighter/blowing tests to ensure that permeability and contact from droplets while using the mask is at the barest minimum.

·       CAN THEY BE USED ON BABIES?

No, these face masks cannot be used on children between 0 to 24 months old.

·       CAN A PERSON WITH ASTHMA OR BREATHING DIFFICULTIES USE THIS FACE MASK?

Anyone who has breathing difficulties or is in a state of unconsciousness or cannot remove and/or wear the mask without assistance should not use this face mask. 

• ARE THERE ANY INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THIS FACE MASK?

Make sure to wash your hands before use. Place loops around the ears to fit the mask over nose and mouth. Avoid touching areas around the nose and mouth while removing this mask. Wash and keep ready for your next use.

• HOW CAN I MAINTAIN THIS FACE MASK?

Wash after each use with soap and warm water, or with a washing machine. Dry in the sun or use a hot pressing iron. Change mask on or before every three months, depending on the frequency of use.
